SBOT N WO home

Sbot N Wo is a voice/electronics duo from Eastern Canada.

Helen Pridmore specializes in new music and extended vocal techniques. Celebrated for her performance of old standards from Webern and Messiaen to Cage and Berio, her greatest devotion is to new composers, new music and new sounds. She also has a doctorate from the Eastman School of Music, and is professor of voice at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick Canada.

WL Altman is a composer and laptop performer. His written works are performed and commissioned by musicians across North America, and confound conventional models of notated music by sharing real-time creative processes with the performers, through improvisation and reactive listening.

At a recent residency at the Banff Centre in the Canadian Rockies, Sbot N Wo worked intensively to develop their unique musical language, which they shared with audiences on a tour of Britain and Europe in spring 2007. Since then, Sbot N Wo have performed at the OK.Quoi?! Contemporary Arts Festival in Sackville New Brunswick, and will be featured in upcoming projects for the Canadian Music Centre, the Confederation Arts Centre in PEI, and in Saskatoon at both the upcoming eVOCative Festival and at PAVED Arts + New Media Gallery.
